About this event
People living in Barking and Dagenham are being invited to take part in a fun, free Community Games event aimed at encouraging physical activity, providing health advice, and bringing the local community together.
Organised by the North East London Cancer Alliance, the event is especially welcoming to residents who are living with or recovering from cancer, as well as their friends, families, and carers. The goal is to support recovery, improve quality of life, and promote healthier living through inclusive and accessible activities.
Following the success of a recent launch event at Mile End Leisure Centre, the next Community Games will be held at Barking Sporthouse & Gym on Friday 13 September, from 11am to 3pm.
The event is open to all ages and abilities and offers the chance to try a wide range of fun and informal activities such as football, boxing, netball, racket sports, and even axe throwing — all in a supportive, no-pressure environment.
In addition to the activities, attendees will be able to access free health checks, including blood pressure monitoring, smoking cessation support, and general wellbeing advice. It's also a chance to connect with neighbours, meet friendly faces, and discover local health and fitness opportunities.
Whether you're looking to get active, access health advice, or just enjoy a sociable day out, the Barking Community Games offer something for everyone.
The event is completely free, and all are welcome — just come along and get involved!
