New Survey Launched to Look at Social Care Access in Barking and Dagenham

Social care support can change people’s lives, but not everyone is getting the support they need. Just like a GP, social care services can be the first point of contact when someone with a long-term condition or disability needs support.

Healthwatch wants to understand how people are accessing social care and to gather insights on the use of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) Adult Social Care webpage. We are undertaking this project to explore how adult social care is perceived and accessed by residents. We hope that our findings will highlight what’s working well and flag potential barriers or unmet needs in order to make recommendations to decisionmakers and improve social care services in the borough.

The responses to the survey are anonymized to prevent the identification of individual respondents.

Why you should take part:

• Social care changes lives, providing vital support for people with long-term conditions or disabilities, but not everyone is getting the help they need.
• Help identify what works, as your feedback will highlight what’s working well in local services.
• Spot areas for improvement by sharing your experiences which uncover barriers and unmet needs that might otherwise go unnoticed.
• Shape future decisions, with survey results used to make recommendations to local decision-makers to improve services.

• It’s relevant to you. Even if you don’t need social care now, you or someone close to you might in the future.
