Help London Stay Cool: Register Your Venue as a Cool Space

Why Cool Spaces?

London is becoming increasingly vulnerable to extreme heat as climate change increases the frequency and intensity of hot weather. The July 2022 heatwave, during which temperatures in London exceeded 40°C, underscored the significant risks that high temperatures pose to public health.

Cool Spaces provide temporary relief by offering safe indoor environments where people can rest, recover, and stay hydrated during periods of extreme heat.

What does a Cool Space provide?

Each Cool Space will offer:

• An open area accessible to all members of the public.
• Access to free drinking water.
• A place where people can rest and recover at no cost.

Register your venue

If you manage a venue that meets these criteria, you are invited to take part in the Cool Spaces initiative.

To be included on the 2026 Cool Spaces map, please complete the venue registration form:

Participating venues will be featured on the public Cool Spaces map, enabling residents to identify accessible places where they can find temporary relief during hot weather.

2026 operating period

Cool Spaces will be active from 1 June to 30 September 2026.
