Healthwatch B&D Board Meeting – Key Highlights

• New Members: Welcomed Petrena Notice and Mizanur Rahman.
• Actions Completed: Newsletter sent; some Conflict of Interest forms returned; outreach for dental awareness underway.
• Project Updates:
  • 3 reports published; awaiting response on dental report.
  • Enter & View at Tulasi Medical Centre raised concerns; comparison visit suggested.
  • “Who Knows” survey report published.
  • Public Health requested smoking focus groups; being explored.
  • Successful care home engagement at Big Help Out event.
• Women’s Health Project:
  • 30 responses so far; reaching out to more women.
  • Will also survey women with no prior service use.
  • Actions: AP to contact Sexual Health Clinic and attend Baby Bank event.
• Bowel Cancer Screening:
  • Uptake in B&D is lowest in the country.
  • Low health literacy and cultural barriers identified.
  • More outreach needed, especially with Asian and Black communities.
• AOB:
  • Poor communication about local health events.
  • New Diagnostic Unit open at Barking Hospital.
  • Public Health unaware of Healthwatch — awareness session planned.
